Since its inception from 2001, ARV (Association of Relief Volunteers) has aimed to provide awareness on social security schemes, housing for homeless people , food security for indigenous people , leadership trainings for rural youth ,healthcare and supplementary children’s education to the most vulnerable groups in Andhra Pradesh, India.
The coastal areas of Andhra Pradesh are prone to severe destruction from cyclones. Having witnessed this destruction firsthand more than once, Ravi Kumar Tantepudi founded ARV in the hopes of improving the lives of people in this region.
In 2005 a couple from America, Shawn Rubin and Laura Westberg visited ARV and participated some of ARV activities in Andhra Pradesh . After they returning to their home in Providence, Rhode Island founded Longitude and dedicated to supporting Association of Relief Volunteers.
With Longitude’s support ARV draws its strength from its grass-roots network and dedicated volunteers. More than 600 local and international volunteers have worked with ARV to empower impoverished communities.
